“ I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” 2Timothy 4:7 KJV On July 16, 2022 God gently called Sandie Francis into Eternal Rest. Sandie was born in Holland Va. to the late Lillie and Clyde Francis on January 21, 1931. He was a faithful member of Tabernacle Christian Church where he served on Senior Usher Board, and the #2 Usher Board, Adult Choir and Male Chorus. In 1993 he retired from Planters Peanut Company after 40 plus years of service. He was also an active member of the Planters Peanut Union, Local 2426 for 58 years. Post-retirement he was employed by the Purple Heart Foundation for 10 years. He was a faithful member of the Star of Sharon Masonic Lodge No. 231 in Suffolk, Va. He held many positions including Worshipful Master of the Lodge. Sandie was a founding member and former president of the Lake Kennedy Civic League. Mr. Francis was musically inclined. He often enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, and was a member of his very own Gospel Quartet called the “ Golden Stars” of Holland, VA. in the 1950’s. Some of his hobbies were taking pictures, gardening, yard work and bragging about having the prettiest yard & garden in Lake Kennedy. Sandie was the youngest of 3 boys, and was preceded In death by his 2 brothers John & William Francis, and his loving wife of 62 years Rebecca Francis. He leaves to cherish his memory his children William Flood, Gregory Francis (Marzina), Timothy Francis, Connie Brinkley (Geney), Phyllis Francis-Vann, and Reginald Francis; son-in-love Richard Ross, Daughters-in-love Cynthia Jordan and Donna Roberts-Eley; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Zion Community Church-Northern Suffolk Campus, 5132 Nansemond Pkwy, Suffolk, VA 23435.
