Johnetta S. Wilson passed away peacefully in her home on January 4th, 2024, at the age of 87. Johnetta was born to Rufus Lee and Arnettie Stanley on August 8, 1936, in Bertie County N.C.
Johnetta graduated from Bertie County High School, Bertie NC. She was the widow of Charlie Lee Wilson, Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents Rufus and Arnettie Stanley; sisters, Christiana Watford, Catherine Stanley, Georgia Mae Boone; brother, William Stanley.
She was a retired Food Service/Hospitality Specialist.
Johnetta was a faithful member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she served as a Trustee, Member of the Senior Usher Board, Hospitality Ministry and she formed and chaired the First Lady’s Day Ministry.
Johnetta is survived by her children, Dorothy Lavern Ridley (Dennis) of San Antonio, TX, Charlie Lee Wilson, Jr. (friend Vernell) of Hampton, VA, Jacqueline W. Copeland (Rev. Dr. Anthony), of Suffolk, Va, Roxie Wilson (Fiancé Steve) and Eric Wilson of Suffolk, VA.; sisters, Josie Knight, Pauline Moore, Ruth Short, and Shirley White; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Barnes and Rose Stanley. She has 11 Grandchildren, 24 Great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins along with extended family and friends.

A public viewing will be held 4:00-7:00pm, Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Ms Wilson will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethlehem Christian Church, Inc. Building Fund. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
