On November 24, 2023, one of God’s Angels was sent to Capron, Virginia and peacefully escorted our
beloved Mildred Delores Williams Gordon to her heavenly home.
Mildred, affectionately known as “Lois” by family and friends was the youngest of 12 children born to
the late Reverend John E. Williams and Littie Mae Williams on December 24, 1946. Lois was educated in
the Southampton Public School System. After completing her education, she moved to New York where
she was employed by Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan as a Registered Nurse. She later moved to
Philadelphia and was employed with Melmark as an Attending Nurse Supervisor. Upon retirement, she
returned to Capron and rejoined Morning Star Baptist Church.
Lois had a knack for growing flowers and house plants. She loved collecting and framing pictures of her
family and friends which was evident of her love for them.
Lois was preceded in death by her son: Lloyd “Fessy” Williams: four sisters: Adelaide Rice, Lena Smith,
Ethel Powell and Bessie Walker; two brothers: Charles ”Bubba” Williams and Purnell Williams: and a
special nephew (reared as a son): Earl Hicks.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Innel Gordon, her daughter: Phyllis Ann Williams,
three sisters: Barbara White, Florence Mercer and Sarah (Joe) Parker; two brothers: James E. Williams
and John B. Williams; a god son: Aaron Goodman and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 14502 Rivers Mill Road, Capron, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
