Michael Pearson

June 29, 1973 — December 15, 2023

On December 15, 2023, the Lord decided he needed an angel and reached down to bring Michael James Pearson into the eternal arms of God.

Michael was born in Franklin County, Virginia, on June 29, 1973, to Mrs. Phyllis T. Pearson and the late Rev. James H. Pearson.

At an early age, Michael became a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Penhook, VA. Once he relocated to Maryland, he attended Alfred Street Baptist Church located in Alexandria, Virginia.

Michael was a 1991 graduate of Franklin County High School where he was a member of the band and played the trumpet. After high school, he followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and attended Hampton University. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Michael was employed by Safe-Guard Products International as a National Trainer.

Michael had a radiant smile and an infectious laugh. He had a sweet and gentle spirit, and he loved his family and friends immensely. If you were Michael’s friend, you knew it beyond a shadow of a doubt.  He was a big Chicago Bears fan and supported his team in good and bad seasons. Michael is probably having conversations with Walter Payton about the next football season and how Da Bears can have a winning season.

On March 19, 2022, Michael married the love of his life, Twinetta Taylor. Michael and Twinetta lived life to the fullest and resided in White Plains, Maryland. They enjoyed traveling, attending shows and concerts, and most importantly, loving each other.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James H. Pearson; his maternal grandparents, Samuel R. and Elizabeth O. Trent; and his paternal grandparents, Henry L. and Cora D. Pearson. Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife, Twinetta Pearson; his mother, Phyllis Trent Pearson of Penhook, VA; one stepson, D’Andre Taylor of White Plains, MD; and his sister, Michelle Pearson Clark (Clyde T. Clark, Jr.) of Chesapeake, VA. Michael was “Uncle Mike” to his niece, Allison Clark and nephew, Clyde T. Clark, III whom he loved and spoiled unconditionally. Michael is also survived by his mother-in-law, Cassandra Potter, father-in-law, Rachford Potter, Sr. (Glenda Potter) and brother-in-law, Rachford Potter, Jr. He will be greatly missed by two aunts, Mary T. Hancock and Betty T. Hicks; two uncles, Edward Trent and John “Lewis” Trent; and a host of loving cousins, extended family, close friends, including his life-long friend and classmate, Dr. James Waddy and his best friend Anthony Simmons. He will be missed by his supportive church family. He will be especially missed by Lexi Pearson, Michael’s and Twinetta’s mixed Shepherd.
