Mary M. Fisher-Ricks

Mary Ricks, 97, transitioned Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Autumn Care of Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Eula Holloman Fisher and Clyde O. Fisher. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel W. Ricks; sons, Pernell Ricks and Winston Michael Ricks; sisters, Catherine Wyatt, April Ruth Joe and Mrs. Danelle Cherry. She was a member of Greater First Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Missionary, Mother of the Church, avid Bible Study Scholar, Sunday School Student, Choir Member, Pastors' Aide and True Worshipper. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Mrs. Elois Johnson, Mrs. Betty A. Montgomery and Mrs. Joyce E. Jones all of Suffolk, VA; two sons, Clarence Ricks of Ivor, VA and Joel W. Ricks, Jr. of Suffolk, VA; two devoted nephews, Clyde L. Fisher, Sr. of Wesley Chapel, FL and Henry Wyatt, Jr. of Suffolk, VA; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at Greater First Baptist Church Orland, 600 Factory Street, Suffolk, Virginia. Rev. Andre L. Powell, Sr. will officiate and Rev. Moses Ware, Sr. will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guest at 907 Truman Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
