THE OBITUARY
Mary Louise Dildy, 83, of 6801 Quaker Drive, Suffolk, VA was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Chesapeake, VA. She was born on July 17, 1942, to the late Laura Jones and Step-Father Clifton Jones of NansemondCounty. Mary’s legacy was marked by God, love, and devotion to her children, siblings, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved partner and husband of over 43 years, Redell Dildy Sr., her son Tommy Dildy, two brothers-Vernon Jones and Robert Jones.
Mary Louise Dildy received her early education at Little Fork School, became a domestic worker, then transitioned to a housewife. She lived her life to the fullest surrounded by faith, family, and love. She loved listening to gospel music, telling the same old stories, while laughing with her children, and watching Walker, Texas Ranger and The Three Stooges. She was a devoted and cherished member of Bible World - An Apostolic Church. She faithfully attended service, and when she couldn’t, she listened online. She was so giving and if anyone needed anything, she would give the clothes off her back. Her children were her main priority. She supported each one of them in whatever they wanted to do and asked about each one of them every day. Her delicious meals she made weekly was the centerpiece of family gatherings and special occasions that made memories that will last forever. Mary’s kind smile and welcoming spirit will always be remembered by loved ones and all who knew her.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory nine children: Wendell Dildy (Julielea) of Honolulu, HI, Alfreda Morings (Lyndon Sr.), Dorris Copeland, Mary Ellen Dildy, Ricky Dildy (Venus), Pamela Trotter, Redell Dildy Jr. (Jennifer), Anthony Dildy (Ulanda), Troy Dildy; two brothers, William Jones (Catherine), Linwood Jones; three sisters, Mary Bernice Hamlin, Fannie Hamlin, Betty Johnson, and Louella Dildy who was a close cousin who was like a sister; 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Janice Ralph, Minnie Dildy, Velma Dildy, Mary Dildy, Virginia Dildy; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Dildy, Wesley Dildy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
