Marion B. Porter

Marion B. Porter, 85, of Suffolk transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, November 3, 2019. She was born on April 8, 1934 in Whaleyville, Virginia to the late Theodore and Hazel Bailey. Marion finished her Elementary and High School education in the public schools of Suffolk, Virginia. She believe that all could succeed and she always helped others. Her joy was king care of her mother during her mother's sick time and last days. Marion loved to go to church and would not miss unless something was wrong. Don't forget the hats, she had to have that hat on going to church. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Porter, mother and father, two brothers, Stanley and Raiford Bailey of Suffolk, VA; sister-in-law, Flossie Bailey. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sandra Sinkfield of Portsmouth, VA and Sharon Thornhill of Suffolk, VA;sister, Lucille Anderson of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Carroll Bailey (Emily) and Bernard Bailey (Sandra); sister-in-law, Mildred Bailey; two aunts, Florine Parker and Glorine Strothers of Suffolk, VA and a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation with family will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, November 9. 2019 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk. Rev. Dr. William L. Lang will deliver the message of comfort. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
