Margaret R. Williams

February 21, 1950 — November 10, 2020

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 10, 2020, the Lord in His infinite wisdom called our beloved Margaret into life eternal. Margaret R. Williams, one of six children, was born on February 20, 1950 to the late Virginia R. Rawls and the late Johnny Williams. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny, Jr. and Welton Williams, and sister, Theresa Williams. Margaret attended Suffolk, VA public schools. She graduated from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1983. Margaret retired from Maryland State in 2016 after 27 years of dedicated service to the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. She was a devoted case manager providing services to vulnerable children and families. Her passion was working with at-risk youth who were preparing to become productive independent citizens in the community. Margaret was guided by the Lord in her early years and attended East End Baptist Church in Suffolk. In 1989, she joined the Holy Temple Cathedral fellowship, formerly in Annapolis, MD under the pastoral leadership of Apostle Wilbert L. Baltimore. She served on the usher board. Margaret was an ardent worshiper. Not only did she shout out praises with her voice, but she also played her tambourine fervently, making a joyful noise unto the Lord. In spite of Margaret's serious health challenges, she continued to encourage others. Margaret was humble, soft-spoken and witty. She was carefree and not burdened down with the struggles of life. Margaret was a remarkable woman with diverse interests, which included bowling, martial arts (2nd degree black belt), white water rafting, watching action movies, and her favorite television show, the Alaskan Bush People. Her two most passionate interests were maintaining her healing garden and caring for her dog Luckie, who was the love of her life. She leaves to cherish loving memories to her sister, Martina (Willie) Beale; her brother, Steve Williams both of Suffolk; devoted and loyal sister and best friend, Janie Crowner of Odenton, Maryland; nieces, Martina Uzzle and Marilyn Adams both of Suffolk; nephews, Antwan, Steve, Christopher, Melvin, and Calvin Beale of Suffolk, Virginia, Willie Beale of Greenville, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives. Margaret also leaves her extended family in Maryland to cherish her memories: nieces, Janelle and Brandi Queen of Aberdeen, Maryland; nephews James (Debi) Murray of Edgewood, Maryland; Philip Tillman II (Elizabeth) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Amelia Crowner of Abingdon, Maryland, and her church family, and many special friends. A viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, November 21, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
