Major Cherry (Richardson)Jr., 73, passed away on December 2nd 2023 in Sentara Obici hospital.  He was born to Carrie Richardson and Major Cherry Sr., on July 21st 1950.

 Major had one child and is survived by his daughter Maria Collins (Deimon ). He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren. He had one granddaughter Latarviye Cherry, and two grandsons, Jameseon Arline and James Arline. He had four great grandchildren Alani, Ca'Milah, Carter and Semaj.  He is also survived by his sister Terry Harper, and brother George Fenner. He was preceded in death by his sisters  Diane White, Estelle Morris, Linda Forbes, Lucy Richardson, Erma Boone, and Carolyn Barros. He had a host of nieces and nephews but had a very special bond with his niece Vanessa Stewart.

A viewing will be held 2-7 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2023 at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
