Madelaine Kaye Bellamy, 70, of 1115 Custis Road, Suffolk VA died Saturday August 16, 2025 at Sentara Heart Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Madelaine M. Wilson and the late Johnnie H. Bellamy. She is preceded in death by her brothers John H. Bellamy, Jr. and James Allen Wilson.
She was a 1973 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. She graduated from Paul D Camp Comm. College in 1984 with an Associates degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, in 2001 received an Associates degree from Tidewater Community College in Early Childhood Education/Development, and in 2007, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Virginia University of Lynchburg. She also received certificates in the above studies to include Pastoral Care & Social Work. She was licensed to preach February 10, 2001 and ordained June 22, 2024. Her most recent accomplishment was completing the Chaplaincy program from Scientia Institute for Christian Studies under Dr Barrielevia Evans, Ph.D & Chancellor. She was excited to start working with the Suffolk Police Department in that capacity.
Miss Kaye, as she was known by many, started her state-licensed, in-home daycare (Quality Care Childcare Services) in April of 1994 and also became a foster parent to many.She has been faithful… as a young member of First Baptist Pleasant Hill under the leadership of the late Rev. Lemuel Greene, St. Timothy Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Allen Clark, Sr. and most of all Oak Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Anthony Copeland since 1998.She has held numerous roles in Mass Choir, Feeding Ministry, Sunday School Assistant Teacher/Teacher, BTU Congress, Sharon Baptist Mission & its Allied Bodies, Women’s Ministry, Budget committee & children's church. However, her love of ministry was singing and preaching/teaching God’s word.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Bertrum Johnson (husband of 35 yrs), daughters: Tia Johnson Parker (Garland) of Richmond, Va, Diedre Ricks (Corie, Sr) of Suffolk, VASons: Christopher Hicks of El Paso, TX, SSG Bertrum DeVann Johnson (retired), Alex Johnson (Trisha), and Keith Johnson (Lashonta) all of Suffolk.Nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Isaiah Tahj, Corie Jr, Jaylen, Kaitlyn, Alonna, Brayden, Mason & Camila. Oriette Bellamy & Rev Vanessa G Brown are among the extended family and special friends.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
