Lucy Mae Shaw

December 6, 1932 — September 27, 2024

Those we love must sometime pass beyond our present sight, must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light, but we know that like a candle their light will share to brighten another place more perfect, more divine.

Lucy Mae Shaw quietly and peacefully departed this life on Friday September 27, 2024. She entered in a haven of eternal rest of our heavenly father’s kingdom. Lucy, daughter of the late Phillip Shaw and the late Katie (Garrett) Shaw was born December 6, 1932 in Trenton, Kentucky. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was an only child. She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia J. Walker, and grandson Brandon S. Walker.

She was educated in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She received her LVN/ LPN vocational license after completing high school. She then enlisted in the United States Army in May 1953, in the Womens Army Nurse Corp. She then traveled and was stationed domestically in Alexandria, Virginia and met and married Willie C. Walker, notably that was in the United States Air Force.Their union produced 4 beautiful children.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters Willetta M. Wilson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Linda W. Young M.D. of Port Tobacco, Maryland, and son Willie C. Walker Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, three granddaughters; Danielle Goetz (Sean) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Kieanna Walker Caterisano of Landsdale, Pennsylvania and Jada Walker of West Point, Georgia. Four grandsons; Jelani Young (Sarah) of Gainesville, Florida, Russell Preston Jr. of Brooklyn, New York, Aaron and Carl Walker of West Point, Georgia, and a host of relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held 12-1pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024  in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. immediately followed by a celebration of life commencing at 1pm. She will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
