Lucy M. Rawlings

Lucy M. Rawlings, 81, of Spencer Court, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Lucy Whitaker and Ernest Powell. Besides he parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Powell,  sisters, Ira Mae Trader and Emma Jean Saunders. Lucy was employed with the City of Suffolk as a School Bus Driver for 30 years. She retired in 2000. She was a member of New First Baptist Church and a PBA Bowling Champion. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Thomas Rawlings of Suffolk, daughter,son, Michael Powell (Vanessa) of Newark, N.J., two brothers, Ernest; Powell (Alice) and Horace Powell (Fonnie); grandchildren, Michelle Powell-Clark(Ahijah) and Ronald Brown; great grandchild Amihah-Maylin; nieces, Debra Wright,Alice Stone, Renee Powell, Rosette Whitaker, Sharon Powell, SAndra Saunders, Ernesteen Powell, Burnece Stone, Glenda Powell, Linda Powell, Tasha Powell, Tanisha Powell, Tiffany Powell (Tobias), Marie Evans, Tempist Powers, Antonette Williams, Adria Williams, and Takeara Gaston; nephews, Horace Powell, Ronnie Powell, Ricky Saunders, Ernest (Cat) Powell IV, Rudolph Saunders, Ernest Powell III, and James Powell a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives. Viewing will be held 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at New First Baptist Church, 1105 Hosier Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434. She will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
