Louise W. Eley

Louise W. Eley, daughter of the late Alice Beatrice and James Preston Whitfield was born March 9, 1936. Mother Eley resided in Suffolk, Virginia and transitioned on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Concordia Transitional Care and Rehabilitation – Nansemond Pointe. If only we could be so blessed, she was beautifully and a well-seasoned 85 years old. Mother Eley belonged to St. Mary’s Church of God in Christ (COGIC) where she attended services regularly until her health rendered her to stay at home. Still, she would rise early to join the daily devotional moment and it easily became a time when she could join in fellowship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. She loved good food especially roasted and fried peanuts. She was an avid reader, enjoyed good conversation and loved to watch western movies, games shows, drama and suspense movies. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, quiet disposition, active listening ear, for her laughter and good humor. She is preceded in death by her parents Alice Beatrice and James Preston Whitfield, her sister Sandra Lucille Whitfield, her husband Delma Eley, Sr., her children Wanda Eley, Deborah (Elaine) Robertson, James Preston Eley, and Gary Mahoney. She is survived by her children: Sally L. Eley of Maryland, Delma Eley, Jr. (Sharon) of New York, Marilyn Miller of North Carolina, Patricia Johnson (Curtis) of Virginia, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. A private interment will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
