Lois Jean Holloway

September 17, 1936 — April 16, 2019

Deaconess Lois Jean Holloway transitioned to her heavenly home on April 16, 2019 at her residence.  Lois was born to the late Claude Johnson and Hattie Lee Jones Smith on September 17, 1936 in Nansemond County (Suffolk), Virginia. She received her education training through Suffolk Public Schools.  She was employed at Gwaltney Packing plant for many years until her health began to fail. She was also active in the Daughters of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks in Isle of Wight County.  Lois married Her husband Bennie Holloway of Suffolk Virginia on February 14, 2010 and he cared for her faithfully until her transition to eternal rest. Lois joined Little Bethel Baptist at early age and was active in various ministries of the Church including The Ten Friends Club, a member of the Second Senior K.D Shivers Gospel Choirs, Pastor Aide Committee, and Decorating Committee.  Multiple time Chairwoman for Women’s Day and Family and Friends Day events, and the Deaconess Ministry until her health began to fail. Lois was predeceased in death by her daughter Deborah Ann Johnson Green, her parents the Late Leslie and Hattie lee Smith, and Claude Johnson, Sr. and lastly her siblings Leslie D.Smith, Claude Johnson, Jr., Clairice Gray, and Bobby R. Smith. She leaves her Cherished Memories to her husband Deacon Bennie Holloway of Suffolk Virginia. Her Children Sharon Dickson ( Johnnie ) of Lake City, South Carolina, Fuller “Acey”Johnson of  Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Her Sisters H. LaRonda Turner (Thomas) of Suffolk, Virginia and Cathy Whitley of Hampton,Virginia. Her Brother Donald Smith (Kathy) of Chesapeake,Virginia. One Brother in Law William T.  Gray of Chesterfield, Missouri.  Her Grandchildren Debbie Williamson, of Atlanta, Georgia, Fultreana Ruiz of Hampton Virginia, Fuller “Antron” Faulk of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Lasira Nicholson of Lake City, South Carolina.  Her Great Grandchildren Deion Terry of Newport News, Virginia and Jasmin Terry of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.  A special thank you to Jerome, Sarah, Larry (Cathy), Bennie Jr., Wayne, Celestine (Walter), Joyce (Jeffrey), Vera, Annette (Stanley), Michael Chavis , Jamyia and Janyia. Lois’s Step Children and Grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everets Road, Suffolk, Virginia. Pastor Bernard Thomas will deliver the message of comfort. The family will receive guest at the home of her sister, Mrs. H. LaRonda Turner, 1037 Boundary Drive, Suffolk, Virginia.
