Linwood A. Privott transitioned Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the home of his daughter in Suffolk VA. He was the son of the late Rufus Morris and Bertha Privott. He attended Edenton City Schools. At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Delsie Wilder Privott for 56 years. After relocating to Suffolk, he joined Rising Saint James PH and remain until his death. He served in various capacities in the church; Chairman of the Deacon and Trustee Board, Usher Ministry, Head of the Transportation Ministry and the Helping Hands Ministry in which he and his wife Delsie started. Linwood was a previous member of the Masonic Lodge in Edenton, NC. He retired as a truck Driver ending his career at Commercial Ready Mix. Linwood was the eldest of 8 siblings. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Shelton Ray, James Edward, Wallace, Thomas and one sister; Annie. Deacon Privott leaves to cherish his memories one daughter; Mary Ann (Rev. Vernon Andre Jackson) of Suffolk, VA and his two granddaughters; Tamisha (Joseph L Smith Jr.) of Chesapeake, VA and Terra Hinton of Suffolk, VA. Seven great grandchildren; Trinity, Tamia, Joshua, Justin, Ayanna, Amani, and Ashton. Two Brothers; Willis Privott of Edenton, NC and Rev. Raymond Privott (Charlotte) of Tarboro, NC. Three sisters-in-law’s; Mattie Privott of Edenton, NC, Odessa Privott of East Orange, New Jersey and Gena Privott of Middletown, CT. Three bonus grandchildren, Andrea (Trayvious), Vernon, DeAndre and several bonus great grandkids. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. A devoted friend; Ms. Mary Bellamy. Two dedicated nurses; Ms. Renee Pigotte and Ms. Natalie Green. A public viewing will be held from 2 pm to 7 pm Tuesday March 16, 2021 at Rising Saint James PHC. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Robert Wilkins will deliver the eulogy.
