Lester Mae Corner

Although Lester Mae Corner, affectionately known as “Bae”, passed away on March 30,2022, her spirit will continue living on through her adoring family and friends. Lester passed away in her home at the age of 71. She was born in Nansemond County, VA on November 11, 1950 to the late Lester and Reatha Mae Brogdon. She received her formal education in Suffolk, Virginia. Lester Mae (Brogdon) Corner was married to William Corner, Jr. on November 8, 1969. This 30 year union was blessed with three children. She was employed by Northrup Grumman Shipbuilding as a Welder for 21 years. Lester Mae was a long time member of Tabernacle Christian Church and later joined First Baptist Church, Mahan Street. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Anita and a son; William Corner, Jr. Our mother was known most for her soft words, kind heart, and gentle spirit. She faithfully served at Tabernacle Christian Church on the kitchen committee, where she met her dearest and closest friend, Catherine Peterson. Mom enjoyed word games, puzzles and crocheting. Most of all, she took great pleasure in raising her children and grandchildren. She is survived by a Daughter; Diane Corner, Grandchildren; Brittany Corner and Caicee Crocker, Sisters; Gloria Jean Jackson (Charles) and Joyce A. Henry (Wayne), a Brother; Lester L. Brogdon (Phyllis), an Aunt; Johnnie Mae Brown, a Sister- In-Law, Annie L. Burrus (Clarence) and a host of loving Family and Friends. A viewing will be held at Crocker Funeral Home from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, April 7, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm, Friday, April 8, 2022 at Crocker Funeral Home in the Melvin J Blowe Chapel.
