Leonard C. Baker, Sr. 81, of 16 Loch Circle, Hampton, VA transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday October 10, 2021. He was born March 02, 1940 in Nansemond County, VA to the late James and Doris Mae Baker. He was preceded in death by Thelma Baker, his loving wife of 52 years. He was also preceded in death by his son Corey Baker, three brothers, Wendell Baker, James H. Baker, Anthony Baker, two sisters, Mrs. Bertha M. Milligan, and Mrs. Vivian T. At an early age he moved to Chicago Ill. where he retired from General Electric after 30 years of employment. He was a faithful member of Rising St. James PHC where he served as a member of the male chorus. Leonard's smile complimented his fashion that will be fondly missed. One of the most memorable moments during family gatherings was knowing there was always going to be singing, because singing is what Bakers do. Although we will miss his voice and collaboration at the next gathering, we know that he has found a choir that will let him sing, he's now singing in the “Heavenly Choir." To cherish his memory, Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his three sons: Anthony Butler, Cornel (Uquay) Baker of Hampton, VA and Eric Baker of New Jersey; three brothers Larry (Venesta) Baker of Newport News, VA; $tephie (Rose) Nichols of Hampton, VA, Michael Baker of Suffolk, VA; three sisters: Doris Vaughn of Disputana, VA; Ellen Lowe of Midlothian, VA; Laverne (Melvin) Hamlin of.
