Leon E. Ransome, 61, transitioned peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021 at his residence in Woodbridge, Virginia. After being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on April 19, 2021, his short battle was unexpected but well fought. He was born to the late Elwood Pegram and the late Darlene Ransome on August 17, 1959. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daryl, his grandmother Eleanor Ransome Creamer, and his step-mother Jeraldine Pegram. Leon was a son with the utmost respect, a brother who was a perfect example of a protector, a husband and father who knew no limits, and a friend who went above and beyond. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Kimberly; his children Rodney and Lindsay; his in-laws George and Missouri (affectionately known as “Da” and “Ma”); his siblings William (Jeanette), Danette, Wanda, Renee (Darryl), Marie, Nester, John, and Derrick; and brother-in-law Timothy (Dayna). A host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. A visitation will take place 12-7p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at East End Baptist Church at noon with a live stream attendance option (final viewing from 11AM-noon). He will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial and Cremation Gardens in Suffolk, Virginia. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
