Lenton Stanley Bailey, 83, known as "Dry", was born on August 27, 1935, in Whaleyville, VA to the late Hazel Roberts and Theodore Stanley Bailey.Stanley married Flossie Hick of Suffolk, VA. His high school sweetheart. From this union, he was blessed with three boys. Dexter, Darryl, and Dean. The blessing did not end there, because he was further blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.Stanley was educated in the public schools of Suffolk, VA. of which his most fond memories were East Suffolk High School where he played basketball.Stanley accepted Christ at an early age at Mineral Spring Baptist Church, Whaleyville, VA., under the leadership of Rev. Jones. Stanley loved to fish, hunt, and be with the guys in the hunt club. He retired from Newport News Shipyard.On September 4, 2018, God called Lenton Stanley Bailey home. He fought a good fight, he finished his course and he kept the faith, Stanley went home to rest.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Flossie, brother Raiford, and son Dexter.He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Darryl and Dean of Suffolk, VA; two sisters, Marion Porter of Suffolk, VA., and Lucille Anderson of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Carroll Bailey (Emily) and Bernard Bailey (Sandra); two sisters-in-law, Mildred Bailey and Dorothy Jackson all of Suffolk, VA; a host of other relatives and friends.A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
