Lelear Betty Rawls Woodson entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. She was born on October 11, 1933 to the late Solomon and Irene Rawls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Woodson, Sr.; two sons, Walter T. Woodson, Jr., and Roosevelt ‘Nub’ Woodson; siblings, Curtis Rawls, Sidney N. Rawls, Sr., Eleanor Rawls, Mildred Darden and Hazel Rawls; a grandson, Romane Woodson; two daughters-in-law, Helen Woodson and Carol M. Woodson. Lelear was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star Holland Chapter #162. She was employed at the Donut Shop in Suffolk, Virginia in her earlier years where she was remembered for her famous homemade donuts. She was later employed at the Gwaltney Packing Company until she developed health issues. Lelear is survived by and leaves her precious memories with her; daughters, Betty J. Steward, Shirley Thompson, Eula M. Woodson, and Yvonne Knight (Nathaniel); sons, James Woodson (Carolyn), Vernon Woodson (Joyce), Larry Woodson (Sylvia), and Michael Woodson; last living sibling, Arminta O. Rawls; two sisters-in-law, Doris Rawls and Louise Rawls; a total of 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren; Special friends, Martha Johnson and Dianne Adams, as well as a host of many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and other friends. A public viewing will be held 1:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
