Leland Holland entered into eternal rest on Monday May 08, 2023 at 12:15p.m. He was born to Novella Ash Holland and Hurley M. Holland on July 22, 1925. Leland grew up in Nansemond County, Holland, Virginia and attended Nansemond County Training School. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk, VA. After graduation he entered the US Army, serving in WWII. After honorable discharge he returned home and began farming on the family farm. He began his painting career with his longtime friend, Phillip Bellamy. Eventually he started his business as a painting contractor. Among his many loyal customers was the former Louise Obici Memorial Hospital and continued as interim painter at the current hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lloyd M. Holland and Emerson Holland. Leland leaves to cherish his memories his two daughters, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Langston (Johnnie) with who he lived with for six years until his death and MarSha Gatling; six grandchildren, Kevin, Keith, Karen, and Jorge, Savannah, Angel and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Alton Collins who was a devoted nephew, who always checked on him even when he moved with Jackie. A celebration of life will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Holland will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
