Laverne B. Arline-Sawyer

Laverne B. Arline-Sawyer, affectionately called "LA", went to her heavenly home unexpectedly on February 15, 2025 in Portsmouth, VA at the age of 74.

Laverne was born on December 5, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA.  She was raised by her grandmother, Esther Boone Baker (deceased), whom she would call "Mama". She lived by her words of wisdom, compassion and love for family.

Laverne Arline was educated in the Suffolk Public Schools system and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1968.  From there, she began her career at KFC which spanned over 40 years.  Her final position was Senior Manager which afforded her the opportunity to oversee several area stores and offer best practice tips.

Laverne loved the Lord and loved her family. She would oftentimes be heard humming spirituals as she went about her day.

Laverne leaves her memories to cherish with her children Jacinta Arline and James Arline Jr. (wife Sharise): two sisters, Suzanne Hilliard and Carol Evaldi; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A viewing with reflection period will be held 3-5 p.m Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
