Laura Mae Rodgers

June 28, 1931 — December 2, 2020

Laura Mae Richardson Rodgers was born in Nansemond County June 28, 1931, to the late Junius and Estelle Richardson. She was educated in the Virginia Public School System where she later, also became an employee. Laura was a long-standing member of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was active until limited by health. Laura was a caring, nurturing person who loved to be of service and often put the needs of others before her own. When her parents became ill, she moved them into her home to ensure they had the care they needed. When her sisters, Clara Bell and Ethel, became ill and needed home care, Laura answered the call. She lived a live of service, quick to lend a helping hand however she could. Left to cherish memories of Laura, often affectionately called Jack or Aunt Jack, are her two sons Kim N. Rodgers of Suffolk, VA and William H. Rodgers III (Alisa) of Newport News, VA; her two grandsons Nikolas N. Rodgers of Houston, TX and William ‘Dub’ Rodgers (Desiree) of Williamsburg, VA; three great-grandchildren Aniyah, Arin and Alivia; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 12th, on the lawn of Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. The family’s procession to the service will start at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church. There will not be a repast after the funeral service. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
