Latavis Letroy Harper “Bonez” was born Nov 19, 1986 in Suffolk, VA to Brenda L. Harper and Morris Jackson. Latavis departed his earthly body on June 11, 2026 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Latavis attended Franklin Public School and later went on to receive his GED. He was a jack of all trades, working in different warehouse to recently gaining employment with B.A.E Systems as a firewatch.

To know Latavis was to love him. He was a family man, the life of the party, and he loved to dress in the latest fashion. If you knew him you knew he had a favorite saying “come on somebody”. Latavis was a great father and loved his children dearly. He enjoyed spending time with them and helping them celebrate all their accomplishments, birthdays and holidays.

Latavis is predeceased by his maternal grandmother Jackie L. Harper, and his paternal aunt Tekeshia Jackson.

Latavis leaves to cherish his memories his children whom he adored Landyn and Leahanna Harper of Hampton, VA and Zay'Vion Johnson of Norfolk, VA; bonus children, Harmonie McCray and Marquises McCray both of Suffolk, Virginia; His mother Brenda Harper of Franklin, VA and his father Morris (Patrena) Jackson of Suffolk, VA. His brothers Lashawn Harper, Daunte Harper of Suffolk, Va, Morris Jackson Jr. of Richmond, VA, Rahkeem Jackson of Chesapeake, VA and Demestrius (Crystal) Harper of Portsmouth, VA. His sisters Reshanda Harper of Newport News, VA and Natasha (Martelle) Garvin of Suffolk, VA. His step-sister Lexus Newsome and step-brother Darryl Newsome. His paternal grandparents Marion Jackson and John Harris. His aunts Tyra Harper, Carol (Tracy) Madison, and Deborah Harris. His uncles James Brown Jr., John (Tonya) Harris and Matthew (Linda) Jackson. His Godmother Angel Harper. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His special friend Katie Cannon

A viewing will be 4-7 pm in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Balm Church-East Campus. He will be laid to rest in Southview Cemetery. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
