Larry Darnell Skinner, Jr., age 28, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born to Rhonda Hoggard Skinner and Larry Skinner, he was preceded in death by his sister Shameika Skinner; brothers Larry and Laron Skinner; grandparents Willie G. Hoggard, Eugene Williams, and Mary M. Skinner; and great-grandmother Mother Dorthey Bivins.
Larry, affectionately known as "Lil Larry," was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin, and friend. A 2016 graduate of Lakeland High School, he was employed by Chesbay Beverage Company and also pursued creative passions as a freelance tattoo artist, mechanic, and music producer/rapper.
As a father, Larry took great pride in and care for his children, Znariye Marie Skinner and Mason Brickhouse, who were the center of his world. He exemplified the qualities of a family man, consistently offering love and support to those around him.
Known for his genuine humor and authenticity, Larry had a magnetic presence that could brighten any room. He faced life's challenges with strength and integrity, leaving a lasting impression through his kindness and generous spirit. Although his time with us was brief, the love and joy he shared endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his children Znariye Marie Skinner and Mason Brickhouse; parents Rhonda Hoggard Skinner and Larry Skinner; grandmother Vanito Hoggard Goodman; sisters, Lamiah Skinner, Demetria Beamon, Sherita Beamon Hendrick (Richard), Tammy Skinner, Jasmine Skinner, Kierra Merton, Avyontae Clemons, and Taleja Scoggins. brothers, Qua'Shon Skinner and Shiquane Clemons also mourning are his god siblings Sheniqua Scott, Lashonda Darden, Myesha Skinner, Octavia Boone Saunders, Eugene Boone, Rashard Skinner, Patrick Saunders, and Daishon Darden; godmothers, Pamela Skinner Reynolds, Joycelyn Davis Boone, and Pamela Harris; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Balm Church – East Campus. The celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Faith Temple Apostolic Church, located at 476 Wellons Street, Suffolk, Virginia. Rev. Dr. Trevon Boone will deliver the message of comfort. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with professional services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
