Larry Whitley, 65, of 213 South 7th Street, transitioned Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late William and Willie Mae Whitley. He was predeceased by his brothers, Eddie L. Whitley and Jessie L. Whitley. Larry D. Whitley retired after 43 years as a 1st class operator in the cans department at Kraft Heinz (Planters). Larry loved his Planters family and friends. He was quite a Jokester. He loved joking with his friend Elder Bernell Sherrod. He leaves to cherish his memory Five brothers; William Whitley (Mary) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Clarence Whitley, Henry Whitley(Viola), Leon Whitley and Jeffrey Whitley of Suffolk, Virginia. Jeffrey was a devoted brother, caregiver, friend and his buddy. One aunt Madeleine W. Stokes, Suffolk, A life long devoted family friend and former neighbor James (Shake) Everett, of Maryland. A friend who would constantly check on Larry Terry Bryant, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larry was a good friend to many and would help many in need. He had a love for children and would spoil them with many gifts. He will be missed. A viewing will be held 1-7 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, November23, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
