Katherine (Kaky)Delois Bland Ruffin

Katherine(Kaky) Delois Bland Ruffin, age 73 of Wakefied, Virginia left to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in her home. She was a native of Nansemond County and was preceded in death by her father, Charles B. Bland, mother, Mae Alice Bland Copeland, and brothers Charles Bland Jr., and Reginald Bland. Kaky attended Oakland Elementary School in Chuckatuk and later graduated from East Suffolk High School in 1965. She was employed in various security occupations prior to retiring as a security guard at Planters Peanut Company. Kaky’s formal spiritual life began at an early age at the Church of God in Christ in Chuckatuck and extended to Healing Chapel Baptist Church in Suffolk. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Sherman Bland (Shawn) of Suffolk, two grand-daughters, Vaneisha Richardson of Suffolk, Kenyetta Pompey (Khalamarie) of Texas, three great-grandchildren, Thomari Richarson, Vaniah Winfield, Kingsley Pompey of Texas, one brother, Melvin Lee Bland of Tampa FL, five sisters- Betty J. Bland Wilson (Virnest) of Chesapeake, VA, Shirley A. Bland Simmons, Dorothy Bland Gamble both of Suffolk, Alice Bland Benn (Keith) Williamsburg, and Iris Annette Coleman of Philadelphia PA, a sister-in law, Freda Bland of Smithfield, one aunt, Elaine Copeland Lee (Clarence), four uncles -JC Copeland, Leon (Mary), Richard (Barbara) , Alvin (Jackie) a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. A wake will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery.
