Karen Denise Hunter

Karen Denise Hunter, affectionately known as Missy, 57 of Ashley Ave, transitioned on April 8, 2026. She was born in Nansemond County to the late Susie Parker and the late Richard Hunter on June 24, 1968.

She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. Through the years, she was employed with Smithfield Packing Plant and Wanchese Seafood Co, and would occasionally attend Lakeview Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Mary F. Smith, and her grandparents, George Lee and Bessie Hunter.

She is survived by her Aunts: Mary Johnson (Clifton), Peggy Clark, Diane Smith, Fluorine Parker, Emma Hunter, Alice Jordan, all of Suffolk, and Dorothy Blackwell, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Little, whom she absolutely adored. Special friends: Reuben Joyner and Carlton Holland, of Suffolk, along with a host of cousins and friends.

A public viewing will be held 2-5pm, Friday, April 17, 2026 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Crocker Funeral Home.
