Juanita D. Mizzell, age 74 from Hartford, Connecticut, was peacefully called by the Angels of God with the support of her family on July 3, 2022 in Suffolk, Virginia at home. Juanita was born in Smithfield, GA, she lived in Miami, FL before moving to start her life in Hartford, CT. Juanita received the Lord in her life at an early age, where she attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hartford, CT. Later she moved to Suffolk, VA where she was a member of "Word for Living" under the leadership of the late Bishop Fred Scott, where she served as a deaconess. She received the right hand of fellowship with Calvary Cross Restoration Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Paige Pringle, where she became a full pledge member. Juanita pursued her education further, receiving academic degree levels of associate's, bachelor's and a master's degree. She was a career person who continued to be well educated. Juanita was a property manager for over 40 plus years. Working with many outreach communities as well as volunteering and working in Hartford Correctional Center, she always helped connect families back together, she was very effective in everything she pursued. Juanita loved to cook big dinners for her family. Having family dinners always made her feel whole, as she cooked all year long. We are going to miss her homemade upside down pineapple cake, pound cake and the best banana pudding. Juanita is survived by her husband James L. Mizzell, Sr. of Suffolk, VA; three daughters, Shawndolyn Walden of Jacksonville Beach, Fl, Jossette C. Walker of Franklin, VA, and Nicole D. Stephens of Courtland, VA; two sons, Lashawn Dismuke of Enfield, CT and Eddie Walker of Franklin, VA; two sisters, Livia Dismuke Coaxum of Atlanta, GA and Connsetta J. Grady of Hartford, CT; one brother, Terry Tucker; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Alzata Tisdale and Claudette King; one brother, Jesse Jean Dismuke; one daughter, Patsy C. Mizzell Riddick; one son, James L. Mizzell, Jr.; and two granddaughters Vogentina D. Stephen and Conesha N. Stephens. A celebration of life will be held 1:30pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Greater Sweet Beulah Pentecostal Church of P.A.W. Bishop Madison G. Copeland will deliver the message of comfort.
