Juan Bosco Lascano, Sr. departed this life on February 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on October 3, 1956, in Panama City, Panama, to the late Rafael Armando and Balbina Herenia Lascano, Juan embraced life with an unmatched spirit of joy and resilience.
Juan’s life was enriched by the deep love he shared with his wife of 39 years, Darlene Byrd Lascano, and the pride he took in his children, Juan and Bianca. His greatest joy was being a doting grandfather to Luca and Lenix, who brought endless happiness into his world.
Juan spent his formative years in Panama City, Panama, before making the United States his home. He pursued his passion for electrical work, graduating in 1975 from Artes y Oficios School of Electrician in Panama City, Panama and completed certifications at Old Dominion University. His work ethic and brilliance in construction led him to a career with Shirley Construction Corporation, where he dedicated over two decades. He later worked briefly with SEVAC Corporation before pursuing his dream of self-employment, becoming a Class A Contractor in 2008 establishing Lascano Contracting LLC.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Balbina Herenia Lascano and his brother, Ceaser Lascano. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Darlene Byrd Lascano of Suffolk, Virginia, son, Juan Lascano, Jr. (Jasmine) of Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter, Bianca Nixon (Jonathan) of Salisbury, North Carolina, two grandsons, Luca and Lenix Lascano of Charlotte North Carolina, his siblings, Sandra Wood of Chesapeake, Virginia; Gloria Lascano of Panama City, Panama; Armando Lascano of Panama City, Panama; Mirella Lascano Newball of Panama City, Panama; Osvaldo Lascano (Marisol) of Woodbridge, Virginia; Jacqueline Orrock (Darren) of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Martín Lascano (Vielka) of Panama City, Panama, sisters-in-laws, Zenova Hodge (Marc) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Charlene Motley of Richmond, Virginia, goddaughters, LaShawndra Walker of Chesterfield, Virginia, Charmine Walker of Suffolk, Virginia, Charrie Pomier of Henrico County, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
A public viewing will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a wake and gathering of family and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A homegoing service to honor and celebrate Juan’s incredible life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at East End Baptist Church, located at 1056 Portsmouth Blvd, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
