Joyce Laverne Ruffin

Joyce L. Ruffin was born on August 29, 1945, to the late Joseph Ruffin and Lessie Mae Ruffin. She peacefully departed this life on February 20, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 80.

Joyce lived a life filled with love for her family and a heart for helping others. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time at family gatherings. She also took great interest in learning about her family history. Joyce found her greatest joy in her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William N. Bowers and her beloved son, William R. Bowers.

Joyce leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving son, Terrence L. Bowers (Lisa R. Bowers); 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters; brothers and sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Viewing will be held 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum of Carver Memorial Cemetery and the celebration of life to commence at noon. Monday, March 2, 2026. Professional services with dignity, compassion, and care have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
