Joseph Harding went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2026. He was the sixth of eight children, born on January 4, 1947 to the late Beatrice Johnson Harding and Joseph Turner Harding.

His brother William Harding and sisters Rosa H. Goins and Lillian Harding pre-deceased him.

Cherishing his memory are his sister Ruth Harding and brothers Willock Harding (Deborah), David Harding (Yolanda) and Charles Harding. Also his nieces and nephews.

Joseph was baptized by Rev. Dr. D. W. Lamb and joined Metropolitan Baptist Church, sang in the Youth Adult Choir and was an Usher.

He was educated in the Suffolk Public School System while in the sixth grade he wrote to President Eisenhower to congratulate him on winning the Presidency. He received a Thank You letter from the President. That letter is on display at the U.S. National Archives in Washington, D. C.

His favorite things included talking politics, reading, The Washington Commanders and daily brain teaser puzzles.

He served as President of the STUDENT BODY ASSOCIATION of the School. He was President of his Senior Class when they graduated in 1965. They were the "Last Class of East Suffolk High School", before the high school closed. He attended Norfolk State University and worked at Norfolk Naval Base.

Joseph's warmth and dedication to his family will be greatly missed and certainly never forgotten by them, the Saratoga Community and his many, many cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 12pm Noon, Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Mr. Harding will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family has entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
