Joselean Jones, also known as “Momma Jo”, 88, of Battery Ave, Suffolk, VA, transitioned Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born on March 31, 1937, to the late Luke Williams and Margaret Williams in Nansemond County, VA.
Joselean attended Suffolk Public Schools and graduated from East Suffolk High School in 1956. She went on to work at General Electric and afterwards for over 30 years as a nurse at Autumn Care, until she retired. She was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients and her distinct laugh.
Joselean dedicated her life to Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of Antioch United Church of Christ. She once served in the choir and assisted on several committees, along with assisting her grandchildren with their Sunday School Union reports. Even during periods of prolonged illness, her faith never wavered. She looked forward to viewing the services on her tablet and listening to the late Bishop G. E. Patterson’s gospel albums.
Joselean, who lived and raised her children in the Saratoga community of Suffolk, VA, will surely be remembered for her passion for cooking, especially her sweet potato pie, sewing, being the family news reporter, and her trips to Roses in Franklin & Smithfield.
Joselean was once married to the late Isaac "Ike" Jones II (deceased). She was preceded in death by her two daughters Wilhilmina Evora Jones, Millicent “Lil Bit” Campbell, brother Paul Williams (Catherine, Deceased), sisters Louise Murphy (Brack, Deceased), Mildred Williams (Willie, Deceased), niece Susie Patricia Gambrell, grandson Issac Jones IV, along with one great grandchild, Josiah Mekhi Epps and great friend and care giver Evana Bland.
Joselean leaves to cherish her daughters, Mintha Epps, Sherry Green, and son Issac Jones III. She also leaves her loving grandchildren Quincy Jones (Crystal) Lekisha Green (Steve), Melissa “Tinke” Mack, Domenick Epps (LaKita), Melinda “Tiny” Campbell, Frankie “Rigger” Epps, and Marcus Epps along with nieces Delores Murphy, Sylvia Boykins, Margaret Parker (Jerry, Deceased), Cathy Williams, Nancy “Laverne” Williams, nephew James “Powerhead” Williams (Ernestine), daughter-in-law Marcia Jones; 30 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and devoted friends Samuel “Tucker” Tyler and Diane White.
Joselean will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her steadfast presence and caring spirit.
