Johnie Preston Faulk Jr. affectionately known to most as JP was born September 4, 1934 in Nansemond County, VA to the late Johnie P Faulk Sr. and Thelma Lawrence Faulk. JP departed this life on Monday, January 1, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Johnie was a 1952 graduate of Nansemond County Training School being the Salutatorian of his class.
Johnie acquired the love of farming at an early age and it was his true passion which lasted throughout his life. JP joined Corinth Chapel UCC at a very young age and remained a faithful dedicated member and worked on the Trustee Board until his health deteriorated. JP was a member of Holland Lodge #256. He loved playing baseball as a catcher as well as first baseman.
JP started his career outside of farming with Newport News Shipbuilding as a Pipefitter and then went to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he remained for 25 years working his way up to Radcon Nuclear Supervisor and he retired in January 1999 but continued working full time as a Farmer. In 2005, he was awarded the Outstanding Farm Family by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce for the city of Suffolk, VA.
JP was predeased by his brothers Juniors, Lee, Theodore, Howard and Albert; two sisters Juanita Williams and Rosa Horne Holland and his grandson Roland Russell.
JP leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife for 45 years Marcell B. Faulk. His daughters Deborah F. Russell (Reginald), Beverly Parker (James), Lora Hunter(Theodore), Ivy C. Monger (Stanley), Avis C. Murphy, Carris Manson (Rita), and Joseph Manson; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; one God child Brittany Simmons; 4 sister-in-laws Minister Marlene Simmons, Willie Banks, Carolyn Banks and Dorothy Banks; 3 brother-in-laws William Banks Jr., Melvin Banks and Raymond Everett.
A special thank you to his two caregivers Ashley Scott and Monica Langston for their assistance during his illness.
A viewing will be held 12-6 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held noon, Monday, January 8, 2024 at Laurel Hill U.C.C. He will be laid to rest with Masonic Rites at Corinth Chapel U.C.C. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
