John L. Knight, Jr.

John L. Knight, Jr., 69, transitioned Saturday, August 15, 2026.

He was educated in the Suffolk Public School System and graduated from Forest Glen High School, Class of 1975. (The Rangers)

After graduating from high school, John began his career at the Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked as a welder in Department 18 for a short time. Years later, John made a move to New Jersey, where he continued his career as a skilled welder in Passaic, New Jersey. He was known for his strong work ethic, determination and dedication to providing for his family.

The treasured times he spent with his family and friends was always special to him. His presence brought comfort and joy to those who knew him, and his memories will forever remain in the hearts  of everyone who loved him. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia K. Knight, and his daughter, Detra R. Brown.

John's treasured memories will remain with is brother, Minister Jerome Knight of Carrollton Va.; his brother Glenroy Knight of Suffolk, Va; and his brother Marvin Knight of Passaic, New Jersey; his sister; Vera Knight Blakeney (Lynn) one aunt, Archie Lyons of Suffolk, Va.; and with more to cherish is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and members an unlimited of amount of friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

May John L. Knight Jr. rest peacefully, knowing that he was loved, appreciated, and will never be forgotten.

 A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. The family has entrusted Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. with services rendered with dignity, compassion, and care.
