John A. Harston, 45, of Suffolk, VA, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 7, 2021. He was a native of South Boston, Virginia and was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Herman Harston and Elizabeth Mitchell-Harston Carter. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Elassie Harston and his maternal grandparents, George and Bettie Mitchell. During the time of his transition, John was employed with Keurig Dr. Pepper as an Engineer. He was a former Maintenance Worker at Kraft Foods in Suffolk, VA where he met and fell in love with the love of his life. John enlisted in the United States Navy and started serving our country in November 1995. He was honorably discharged as an E5 Rank AT2 in August of 2007. He was a fan of what used to be known as the Washington Redskins but now are known as the Washington Football team, and also the New York Giants. John loved the Lord, he was a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, Suffolk, VA, he loved serving the Lord, and he loved praise and worshipping His name. He found joy in cooking for his family and friends and proved himself to be a grill master. John loved fixing things and hugs were one of his favorite and memorable ways of greeting his loved ones. He lovingly leaves to cherish his memories: His true love and soul mate, loving and devoted wife, Arnetra Harston of Suffolk, VA,; daughter, Krystian Harston of Williamsburg, VA, three sons, Javon Harston of Williamsburg, VA, Aldru Chapman, Jr. (step-son) and Zacari Love (step-son) both of Suffolk, VA; Mother, Elizabeth Mitchell-Harston Carter of Scottsburg, VA; Father, Herman Harston of Danville, VA; Father-in-law, Larry Copeland and Mother-in-law, Mary Copeland of Suffolk, VA; Grandmothers-in-law, Mamie Skinner and Helen Pope of Suffolk, VA; Sister, Jilena Harston of Durham, NC, Sisters-in-law, Pamela Reynolds (Marvin) and Vontrice Farrell (Andre) all of Suffolk, VA; eight brothers-in-law, Gregory Clemons (Lillian), Virgil Wiggins (Precena), Tyrone Clemons, Raymond Wiggins III (Tracy), Larry Jones, Marquese Madison (Andrea), Marcus Hardy (Kesha) all of Suffolk and Dontre Wiggins (LaQuanda) of Orange Park, Florida; nieces, Tanera McNeil of South Boston, VA and Myesha Snead; nephews, Jahleel Harston of Durham, NC and Roshaud Skinner; great niece, Genesis Dunmore; great nephew, Aaron Cooper both of South Boston, VA; god Sister, Sarah Knight (Dedrick) of Suffolk, VA; god son, Daquan Brock and god daughter, Jasmine Knight, both of Suffolk, VA. A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing will be held 5:00 - 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, VA. The Homegoing service will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021, 12:00 pm at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Avenue, Suffolk VA. Rev. Daniel E. House is the Pastor and Officiator. Mask will be required. Internment will be held at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
