Joel W. Ricks Jr. "Bae Bae" was born October 7, 1952 in Suffolk, Virginia, to the union of late Joel W. Ricks Sr. and Mary M. Fisher Ricks. He attended Suffolk Public Schools and worked as a skilled worker and groundskeeper. He had a love for gardening and for riding his bicycle. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age, at First Baptist Church Orlando, where he attended with his family. Joel loved laughter and always kept a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Joel W. Ricks, Sr., and Mrs. Mary M. Fisher Ricks, two brothers: Mr. Pernell Ricks and Mr. Winston Michael Ricks. While Joel will be greatly missed, but never forgotten, he leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Ms. LaTarisha Mann: a granddaughter, AnDreya Mann, a grandson, DeAndre Mann: three devoted sisters, Elois Johnson, Rev. Betty Montgomery and Joyce R.Jones of (Suffolk) and one brother, Clarence Ricks (Ivor) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is accepting visitors from 5 pm-9 pm at 907 Truman Rd. Suffolk, VA. The Homegoing Service will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, @1pm Greater First Baptist Church, Orlando, 600 Factory Street, Suffolk, VA 23434, Rev. Dr. Andre L. Powell Sr.- Officiating.
