Joe Harper

Joe Harper,68, of Suffolk transitioned Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He is the son of the late Ethel Mae Ricks Harper and Jack Harper. He attended Georgia Tyler and retired in 1990 after 10 years of service as a Truck Driver.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Ann Harper of Suffolk; two daughters, Joann Harper of New York and Teresa Copeland of Suffolk; son, Bobby Jones of North Carolina; two sisters, Ethel Mae Hawkins of Suffolk and Jennete Moore of Franklin; four brothers, Jack Harper of Suffolk; Bishop Leslie Harper (Joyce) of Suffolk, Herman Harper of Franklin, and Marvin Harper (Marie) of Smithfield; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at New Jerusalem Church Ministries. Pastor Weeliby will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
