Jessie Lee Whitley

Jessie L. Whitley, 63, of Suffolk transitioned Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was the son of the late Willie Mae Stokes Whitley and William Whitley, Sr.Jessie was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and was a machine operator at planters for 35 years.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly Copeland Whitley; two sons, Michael Tyrone Copeland and Jardain Copeland; six brothers, William Whitley, Jr.(Mary), Clarence Whitley, Larry D. Whitley, Henry A. Whitley (Viola), Leon Whitley, and Jeffrey Whitley; five grandchildren; aunt, Madeleine W. Stokes; mother-in-law, Mary Frances Langston; close best friend, Thomas C. Bullock; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.A celebration of life will be held noon, Thursday, November 15, 2018, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Bishop Carlton R. Upton, Sr. will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in the Crocker Funeral Home section of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
