Jennetta P. Hunter

January 31, 1953 — February 28, 2023

Missionary Jennetta Pierce Hunter born January 31, 1952 in Suffolk (Nansemond County) passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was proceeded in death by her Father Rev. Alphonso Pierce, Sr., Her mother Mrs. Etta Virginia Orgborne Pierce, and sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Stevenson, Mrs. Deloris Harper and Mrs. Nina Kearney. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Mr. Tony B. Hunter, Sr.; her three children, Jennifer Hunter (Lorne Wellons), Latwana Hunter and Tony B. Hunter, Jr.; two beloved grandchildren, Justice Hunter Ore (Tyon Ore), Ja’Kii Hunter; two precious great-grandchildren Hailey and Hunter Ore; one godson Dorian Powell and a host of honorary daughters, sons and grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Willie Pierce, Alphonso Pierce, John Pierce and Kendell Pierce (Lelita Pierce) ; four sisters, Mary Virginia Boone, Missionary Juareline Diggs, Vivian Marie Kenly and Elder Debra Kearney; and a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and other devoted family and friends. Jennetta was a former member of Saint Mark A.M.E Zion Church. Later, she became a member of Faith Temple Apostolic Ministries, where she served as minister through music as a church soloist, a choir member, as well as an ordained Missionary. Jennetta’s home was like a safe haven for many family members and others in their time of need, wherever she was. She was like a second mother to many, helping in any way she could. One of her passions was working with children and the church youth! She also served as a site Coordinator for the Kings Kids of America for over 20 years under the leadership of Dr. Bishop Obadiah Colander and Dr. Apostle Betty Milteer Knight. She has enjoyed babysitting many children over the years. Amongst many, the last two that held a special place in her heart was Aden & Amir. A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Faith Temple Apostolic Church Ministries, 476 Wellons Street, Suffolk, VA 23434. Pastor Steven L. Brown will officiate the service. Burial will follow immediately after in the Albert G. Horton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her children.
