Jefferson B. DeLoatch

Jefferson B. DeLoatch, aka JB, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2018, at the residence of James and Cynthia Sheppard in Scottsville, Virginia. He was born April 1, 1919, in Conway, North Carolina to his predeceased parents, Mance and Rachel Maddrey-DeLoatch, who moved with him to Suffolk, Virginia at the age of five. He also had two predeceased brothers, Joe and Charlie DeLoatch. He attended East Suffolk High School in Suffolk, Virginia. He served in World War II and later retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1981. His hobbies included those of fishing, hunting, farming, traveling, and reading. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Cynthia Sheppard (James), and Angela Arrington; three sons, Ronnie, Jefferson (Balmer), and Shelton DeLoatch with a pre-deceased son, Nikita DeLoatch. He also leaves loving memories with 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.A celebration of life will be held noon, Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the Melvin J.
