On Friday, February 21, James Fitzgerald Town departed this life in a quiet still way. He was affectionately known and called by us as Chubbie. He was funny and full of fun, so he was the comedian of the family. He was known by many, so no one was a stranger to him. He loved his family and he will be missed. James was born on November 6, 1964 to Willie Lee and Daisy Chapman Towns in Nansemond County, VA. He grew up in Chuckatuck, VA and went to Chuckatuck Elementary School and attended John Yeates High School. Chubbie loved music and playing pool. His favorite color was blue and he was a Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a construction worker for many years, he was a heavy machine operator. He also worked for Smithfield Packing Company of Smithfield, VA and the Saunders Supply Company in Chuckatuck, VA. He was preceded in death by wife Sarita Blount Towns and parents Willie Lee and Daisy Towns and brother Willie Lee Towns, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jamila Towns of Suffolk, son James F. Towns of Suffolk; sister, Robin Langston (Kevin) of Corapeake, NC; three aunts, Joyce Myrick, Rosa Harris and Gwen Strickland of VA; three nephews, Christopher Lee Towns and Alex Towns of Portsmouth and Anthony K. Langston of Corapeake, N.C; five great aunts; three great uncles; a special and devoted friend; Stephanie Hawks of Corapeake; a host of cousines, family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 6,2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. He will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
