James Leroy Mizzell, 81 years old, from Suffolk, VA, was peacefully called home by the Angels of God surrounded by his loving family on May 2, 2025 in Suffolk, VA.
James was born in Suffolk, VA, went to Connecticut for some years and returned home in 1998 where he permanently resided.
James worked in HVAC Engineering, later becoming a Superintendent in the same career field. He was a dedicated and hard-working individual who worked for over 20 plus years at Dorchester Apartments. James was happily married to his loving wife, Juanita for 30 years.
James' favorite hobbies included; cruising on his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling cross country with his best friend, Scott Higgs; and joyriding with his wife to get their weekly ice cream.
Family was everything to James and he expressed his loving sentiments to his entire family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Josh and Janie Mizzell; wife, Juanita Mizzell; son, James Mizzell, Jr; daughter, Patsy Mizzell Riddick; brother, Josh Mizzell, Jr; sister, Hattie Baker-Simmons; and two granddaughters, Conesha Stephens and Voyentine Stephens.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories three daughters; Nicole Stephens of Courtland, VA, Josette Walker of Franklin, VA, and Shawndolyn Wald of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, LaShawn Dismuke of Enfield, CT and Eddie Wallar, Jr., of Franklin, VA; a sister, Mary Baker; grandchildren, Gloria Mizzell, William Mizzell (Melody Skinner), Javon Mizzell, Victor Stephens, Swendell Stephens, Marcus Stephens, LaShawn Wallar, Malcolm Walker, LaKawan Boyd, Khadijah Dismuke, LaShawn Dismuke, Jr., Maihilikhaa Wallar, Ankhara Wallar, and Triston Woodard; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives; special friend, Tonya Hawke; best friend, Scott Higgs; special cousins, Duncan Ruffin, Harold Ruffin, and Percena Wiggins; devonted cousin, Bishop Virginia Leigh Mizell White; and devoted nephew, Thomas Staggs.
A public viewing will be held 3-6pm, Friday, May 9, 2025 at Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Balm Church East Campus. He will be entombed at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
