James Lee Golden

Our beloved James Lee Golden perished unexpectedly July 11, 2021. He was a native of Suffolk, VA all of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Christie Golden; father, Kelly Futrell and brothers, June Futrell, Cookie Futrell, William Henry Golden and Steven Golden; sisters, Lisa Golden and Edith Futrell. James was loved and adored by his community and family. He was a loving father and grandfather and anyone who came in contact with him he touched in his own special way. He was known for his love for music, sharp threads, singing and sports. Throughout his life he was a member of New Paul's Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance and sung in the Men's choir. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted mom, Gracie Wilson; his only son, LaMar Allen; daughter-in-law, Tara Allen; two sisters, Brenda Benn and Mary Futrell; five brothers, William T. Golden (Javonda), Kelly Golden (Tonya), James Earl Golden ("Pop"), John Golden and Leroy Golden; aunts, Martha Virginia Ralph and Mary Frances Towns; five grandchildren, Josiah Allen, Nyasiah Allen, Lamar Allen, Lamont Allen and Isaiah Allen; devoted friend, Jeannetta Kirkwood and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance. He will be laid to rest in Langston Cemetery.
