James J. Parker

James "Big Eye" Parker, 81, of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Concordia Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.He was the son of the late Mary P. Davis and step-father Morris Davis. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and retired from Planter-Heinz-Kraft in 1999 after 43 years of faithful and dedicated service. James was an avid lover of football. He often shared his memories of his skills back in the day. He also loved serving in church. He was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Christian Church where he served on the Sunday School Ministry, Male Usher Ministry and the Trustee Ministry. James loved going to church, but more importantly he loved the Lord. James gave his life to Christ many years ago and served him until his death. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Janice J. Parker of Suffolk; two daughters, Angela Hicks (Vondrae) of Suffolk and Janell Price (John) of Chesterfield, VA; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon, Thursday, May 28, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the C.W. Ash Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
