James Lee Harrell, Jr.

In the early hours of Monday, January 8, 2024, James Edward Harrell, Jr. transitioned from his Earthly life to eternal. Mr. Harrell was born on August 31, 1947 to the late James Edward Harrell, Sr. and the late Mrs. Bertha Mallary Harrell.  He received his education in Brunswick County and graduated from St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. Mr. Harrell joined King’s Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in May of 1992. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Harrell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mrs. Janet K. Harrell, one son, Mr. Joshua Harrell, two daughters, Mrs. Sheila Blow (Santino) and Mrs. Dionne Mason, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Harrell also leaves six brothers and five sisters: Curtis Harrell, Rickey Harrell, Michael Harrell, Delton Harrell, Eugene Harrell, Darius Harrell, Marjorie Drummond, Viola Winfield, Marie Watts, Patricia Harrington and Teri Byrd,  his father-in-law, Bishop John H. Kindred (Bettie), five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, host of cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and loved ones.

Mr. Harrell will truly be missed for his bubbly personality, humorous spirit and laughter.  He will be forever remembered as the “Life of the Party!” The family of Mr. Harrell would like to sincerely thank the staff of AmeriCare Plus Home Health Agency, who have played a vital role in his care during his time of illness.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Kings Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church 6300 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. He will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
