James G. ¨Red¨ Baker. Jr. of Suffolk, Virginia transitioned peacefully at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He was born in Nansemond County. He was preceded in death by his father James G. Baker Sr., mother Laura Bell Copeland, sister Mildred Copleand, Brothers David C. ¨Ko-Koo¨ Baker III, Dwight N. Baker Sr. and Connie L. Baker. James attended East Suffolk High School and later served in the United States Army. He was employed as a plaster for private and public construction companies for over 40 years. His favorite court show was ``Judge Judy¨. James loved his family and friends. James is survived by his cousins Orga M. Boone (Ernest), Virginina Kee, Quintin Baker, of Suffolk, VA, John L. Baker (Veronica) Silver Maryland, sister in law Jennifer B. Baker, niece Tara B. Britt (Franco), two special nephews DaMarco Britt of Suffolk, VA, David Rountree of Norfolk, VA, special friends Ann Williams, Louise Baker, Larry Goodman and Reginald Boone and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held 12 noon - 3pm, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, December 30, 2021 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. Mr. Baker will be interred at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
