Jacqueline C. Nickelson, 67, of Butternut Court, Suffolk transitioned Sunday, November 10, 2019 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Mable Tyler, Joseph Jordan, Mamie Cross, and Carroll Cross. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Nickelson, Jr., sister, Mable Bradshaw. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and matriculated to Paul d. Camp Community College. She retired in 2015 from Western Tidewater Community Services Board after 24 years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan where she served on the Ushers Board, Caring and Sharing Committee, and was a greeter. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Treva N. Stokes (Larry) of Suffolk; son, David L. Cross of Suffolk; five sisters, Paulette Williams (devoted caregiver) of Suffolk, Muriel Council (James) of Suffolk, Hattie Hodges of Florida, Tawana Andrews (Jesse) of Suffolk, and Metilda Holloway (Ralph) of Bowie, MD; brother, Francis Reid (Gladys) of Suffolk; grandchild, Larry Stokes, III; sisters-in-law, Delores Strother (Dwayne) and Bernice Riddick; brother-in-law, Joe Bradshaw; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life of life will be held noon, Friday, November 15, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan Street, Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
