Jacobby Debouvier, was born to the late Roscoe M. Ricks, Sr. & Peggy J. Williams in Suffolk, Virginia. He was immensed in the faith community and entertainment industry that would be his lifelong support from a very early age. He was educated in Suffolk Public Schools and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a Playwright, Actor, Author, Director, Producer, Songwriter, Photographer, Modeling Coach, Talk Show Host (Radio & Television), and the list goes on. As one of the most versatile and vital figures in the entertainment industry in the Hampton Roads area and beyond, Jacobby accomplished so many great things. To name a few, he was a published author with Author House Publishing who later founded his own Publishing Company, Jacobby Publishing. He was a songwriter & composer who created musical pieces that afforded him the opportunities to have his works featured in films and landed him appearances on television shows & major television networks, such as NBC’s “Jenny Jones Show”. His commitment to serve the community and volunteerism was unmatched. From serving on the Board of Directors of The LeMelle Group to serving as the Head Chair of Media & Public Relations and Co-Chair of Membership for the Suffolk Chapter of the NAACP to coordinating the celebrations for the Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend events at Norfolk State University. In 1999, he opened Beautiful People Model Talent and Casting Agency. His agency provided cast, crew, and talent for many greats in the entertainment industry and also led to the launch of modeling and entertainment careers for many young models & performers. He founded the Black Men Rock Image Awards in 2013 & Black Men Rock Image Awards Scholarship Foundation in 2015. Jacobby was a beacon of love and light. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and host of friends. He is survived by his sisters Charlene Tolliver, Rita Outlaw, Chermia Pringle (Oliver), & Cheryl Wilkins (Robert); brothers Travis Williams & Billy Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, friends “like family” & God children. He was preceded in death by his siblings Slester Ricks, Herbert Lee Ricks, Sr., Roscoe Ricks, Jr., Tyrone Ricks, Veronica R. Branch, & Clara Ricks, and his parents. A viewing will be held 1-7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 5414 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, Virginia. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
