Irene Skeeter-Lundy

On Thursday, May 24, 2018 God sent an angel to bring one of his children home. Our beloved mother, sister and aunt Irene Skeeter Lundy was born in Suffolk, VA on July 29, 1929 to the late Blackwell Skeeter and Josie Boone Skeeter. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Willie Lundy; sisters, Flossie Artis, Mary L. Simmons and Josephine Skeeter; brothers, Frederick Skeeter and Wallace Skeeter. Irene was one of nine children who attended Hosier Lane #2 school. She left home at 17 and went to New York. There she met Willie Brinkley, they married and had two children Dianne and Ronald Brinkley. Once her son started school Irene got a job at Kings County Hospital in the Dietary Division where she worked for 25 years and retired. Later in life Irene decided to return to her roots in Suffolk, VA where she met Willie and married until his untimely death. Irene was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church for several years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved on her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dianne Brinkley-Murrell of Brooklyn, NY; son, Ronald Brinkley of Queens, NY; two sisters, Elnora Tranumn and Janet O. Riddick both of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Frank Skeeter; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; special niece, Rosemary Skeeter of Portsmouth; two special nephews, Larry Skeeter of Suffolk, VA and Michael Riddick of Brooklyn, NY; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. 125 County Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.
